The removal of all asbestos‑containing material at the Old Nausori Market has been completed.
Nausori Town Council’s CEO, Akhtar Ali says they are now awaiting a clearance from the Ministry of Labour for air sampling tests to ensure there is no airborne threat.
He says they are hoping to open Wainibokasi Road by tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Ali says they expect to finish the demolition of the old Nausori Market by the end of this month for new commercial development.
It was earlier confirmed that Shop and Save Limited will construct a $40 million complex at this site.
The complex will have hotel apartments, a cinema, conference rooms, supermarkets and 350 parking spaces.
