Dialysis patients who could not pay for services have been provided much needed relief as the Fiji National Kidney Centre in Nadera began operations following urgent repairs last week.
To carry out the repairs, the Ministry of Health had to activate a contingency support plan to fly in an expert from New Zealand.
The Health Ministry says the opportunity was also taken to train 7 local biomedical technicians on the repair and maintenance of the reverse osmosis machines.
6 technicians are from the public sector while one is from the private sector
All the technicians have successfully completed the training and have been licensed to provide the needed backup.
