Amputees are being urged to register at the Tamavua Twomey Hospital as a team from the Jaipur Foot Organisation will be in the country from November to run a lower-limb prosthesis fitment camp.
In a statement, the Health Ministry says the Rehabilitation Medicine Department based at Tamavua Twomey Hospital will begin assessing and registering amputees from Monday.
They say those that meet the criteria will join a lower-limb prosthesis fitment camp run by the Jaipur Foot Organisation from November and will run for 8 weeks.
The Ministry says the assessment and registration will be for individuals that previously had above- or below-knee amputation and those with below-elbow amputation.
It adds that in due course, they will post information on alternative assessment and registration venues in the Central, Eastern, Western and Northern divisions.
Registration at the Rehabilitation clinic starts on Monday between 8am to 3.30pm, on weekdays only.
