Reece and Mataele hope to make a return to rugby this week against the Hurricanes

Fiji-born players Sevu Reece and Manasa Mataele will be hoping to make their return to rugby when the Crusaders face-off with the Hurricanes on Sunday in their opening match of Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Reece’s impressive outing for the Crusaders last season earned him a place in the All Blacks side to the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

He was also named the 2019 Super Rugby top try scorer.

Mataele has been out of the Super Ruby scene since February 2019 due to a knee injury and has not made any appearances for the Crusaders this season.

Reece and Mataele are in the Crusaders squad for Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Leading the points table after Round 1 is the Blues with 4 points.

The Highlanders also have 4 points but are in second place due to points difference.

In third place are the Chiefs with 1 point.

The Crusaders will face the Hurricanes at 3.35pm Sunday while the Chiefs will take on the Blues at 7.05pm Saturday.
