Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew says that the 217 officers that were recruited will boost their capabilities, especially in the front line.
Chew says 123 officers have left the Police Force from January to October this year, and officers continue to leave in the last two months of this year, with some resigning while some have passed away. He says this has created a gap.
He adds that a lot of people have been questioning them on the low police visibility in cities and towns. The Acting Commissioner says it’s quite a challenge, but they will continue to look after the people of Fiji and do their work despite the challenges they face.
