The Great Council of Chiefs complex in Nasese

The re-establishment of the Great Council of Chiefs complex in Nasese will be completed by the end of next year.

This has been confirmed by the Deputy CEO for iTaukei Affairs Board, Josefa Toganivalu while speaking to the media during a tour of the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

Toganivalu says $6 million will be spent on the renovation.

He says within the next 3 months, consultations on rebuilding the complex will be held with representatives in the 14 provinces.

Toganivalu says they were lucky that the building was under insurance when it was destroyed by a fire in December 2019.

The Deputy CEO says they published the expression of interest on the 25th of February and the tender will close on the 10th of this month.

He further says after the expression of interest is closed, the iTaukei Executive Forum will assess and recommend the results to the Minister.

The Deputy CEO says their Strategic Advisory Group will then work with the review team to finalize everything before it is presented to the Minister and the cabinet.
