Rawaca, Katonibau, Pio Tuwai and Jerry Tuwai to be rested for Singapore 7s

Top Vodafone Fiji 7s players, Savenaca Rawaca, Isake Katonibau, Pio Tuwai and Jerry Tuwai will be rested for this weekend’s Singapore 7s.

Speaking to Fijivillage from Hong Kong after their memorable win last night, coach Ben Ryan said he wants to ensure that the players are well rested and focused ahead of the Singapore 7s this weekend.

The Fiji Rugby Union said Emosi Mulevoro, Alivereti Veitokani, Nemani Nagusa, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Josua Vici are expected to be included in the 12 member squad later this week.

Mulevoro, Veitokani and Nagusa joined the team in Hong Kong over the weekend.

Fiji successfully defended the Hong Kong 7s title after defeating New Zealand 21‑7 in the Cup Final last night.

We have extended our lead in the HSBC World 7s Series standings with 128 points, New Zealand is now in second place with 123 points, South Africa drops to third place with 122 points while Australia is in fourth place with 105 points.

Fiji takes on Samoa at 4.12pm Saturday in their first pool match of the Singapore 7s.

We then take on Portugal at 7.33pm Saturday.

Our last pool match is against England at 11.26pm Saturday.

New Zealand will play USA, France and Canada in pool B.

South Africa will play Kenya, Scotland, and Russia in pool C while Australia will face Wales, Argentina and Japan in Pool D.

The Cup quarter finals kick off at 3.58pm Sunday, the Cup semis start at 8.28pm Sunday while the Cup Final kicks off at 11.38pm Sunday.
