President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere is leading the Fijian delegation to the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York.
World leaders will gather for the annual high-level General Debate, focusing on the theme: "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations."
Ratu Wiliame is scheduled to deliver Fiji’s national statement during the General Debate on Thursday.
In addition to the General Debate, the Fiji delegation will also engage in key meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
A Government statement says Ratu Wiliame’s participation in UNGA 79 highlights Fiji's steadfast dedication to global collaboration, sustainable development, and the advancement of peace, prosperity, and progress for all.
Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo will be Acting President until Ratu Wiliame returns to the country on 3rd October.
