The lauching of the Ratu Sukuna Park this afternoon.

Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar has today launched the redevelopment of Ratu Sukuna Park which will include new features like digital screens for events and installation of Digital devices such as charging ports.

Kumar says they are creating a space for families to enjoy.

She says they are also creating space for corporate functions to be held.

Kumar says this will also be a place where people can hold musical events, dance and drama open to everyone.

The Minister says in re-developing this park, they are taking one more step in making downtown Suva greener, more livable and quite simply a more enjoyable place to visit.

Kumar says she has been assured that the Suva City Council has employed a professional arborist to ensure that the heritage of Ratu Sukuna Park and its historic trees are preserved.

She says in eight months’ time, people will be able to enjoy this newly designed, modern park.

Kumar says there are 70 parks in Suva.
