Turaga na iTaukei Navo of Dratabu Village Ratu Meli Saukuru has shown his support of the 4 Million Trees initiative saying the village of Dratabu will support the government to plant more trees in the next few years.

Saukuru made these comments at the launch of the International Day of Forests at Vunayasi Primary School at Dratabu Village which was officiated by the Minister for Forests Osea Naiqamu.

The launch was marked by the planting of 100 sandalwood seedlings.

Saukuru says they are grateful towards the Government for the initiative as it will not only help in the fight against Climate Change but also benefit their future generations.

Naiqamu while addressing the people of Dratabu says the initiative is part of Government’s commitment to the Nation.

He adds this is also part of Government’s commitment to continue to champion climate change, and to protect Fiji’s natural environment and rich biodiversity, including its water sources.
