Despite the lack of facilities provided for the Ratu Latianara Secondary School girl's open grade rugby league side, it does not divert the focus of the girls in trying to get in training since they will be playing their first game tomorrow in the South-Eastern Zone competition.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Captain Litea Ratuniyarawa says she trust the girls that they will play a good game, even though it is their first time participating in the rugby league competition.
Ratuniyarawa says they only participated in rugby union competitions and that skills have helped them to transform from union to league.
Ratu Latianara teacher, Ananaia Baleimatuku says since this will be the girls' first game, what he needs from them is to familiarise themselves with the basics of the game.
Baleimatuku says the girls got motivated to participate in this year’s competition after watching the Serua Dragon side (village team) train at their school ground.
He says the lack of equipment is one of the factors that they are facing, but the girls did not lose hope.
Meanwhile, Ratu Latianara is in Pool B with Lomaivuna Secondary School, Noco Secondary, and Nabua Secondary School.
All the games will be held at the Gospel Secondary School ground from 9am tomorrow.
