Former Fiji Vice President and Roko Tui Bau Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi has passed away.
Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi who was 59, passed away at the hospital in Suva.
Ratu Joni was Nauru’s Chief Justice for the past two years.
He was Fiji’s Vice President for two years until the December 2006 coup.
Ratu Joni also served on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Solomon Islands set up in 2008 to deal with the aftermath of the ethnic tension.
He was a former Permanent Arbitrator and High Court Judge.
Ratu Joni is also a former Head Boy and Dux of Suva Grammar School.
Funeral details will be announced later.
