The Fiji Roads Authority could take a longer time to fill potholes as road pavement maintenance and upgrading programs will be affected due to delays in bitumen supply.
Bitumen is the black material used for road surfacing.
FRA has confirmed that the delay is due to the delays from the bitumen supplier.
While responding to questions by fijivillage News, FRA says Ratu Dovi Road is the only major project that has been impacted.
FRA says they are yet to receive a definite timeline on the normalization of bitumen supply as the delay has been caused by the supplier.
They say the main supplier of bitumen in Fiji experienced technical issues at its depot and cannot supply bitumen for road maintenance work.
FRA says they are considering alternatives such as emulsion patching to minimize inconvenience to road users and ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.
They say other methods could include cold mix supply and patching and aggregating patching.
FRA is urging people to be cautious at all times.
