We must seek lessons from the life of our Lord Rama on how to live a life of faith, duty of righteousness and service while the Ram Lalla Mandir will guide our faith for centuries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad highlighted this while visiting the historic Ram Mandir in Ayodhya which was officiated on the 22nd of last month.
He has become the first foreign minister to visit the Ram Mandir after its opening.
Professor Prasad says Lord Rama’s exile resonates with Hindus in another way as we see and reflect on our own exile from our ancestral land of India to Fiji under the cruel indentured labourer regimes that were introduced by the British more than a century ago.
He says his grandparents were uprooted forcefully not too far from Ayodhya in the district of Balliya.
The Deputy Prime Minister offered prayers on behalf of Hindus highlighting that they share the same joy and celebration upon the opening of the Mandir.
Professor Prasad also acknowledged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his personal leadership and for leading the prayers on behalf of Hindus across the world.
He hopes that Hindus from Fiji will visit this sacred city and the Ram Mandir in years and decades to come.
The Deputy Prime Minister was welcomed at the Maharishi Balmiki Airport by the Minister of Labour and Employment in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Anil Rajbhar.
Speaking to a large contingent of Indian media on his arrival in Ayodhya, he highlighted how Lord Ram’s teachings of justice and non-discrimination gave solace and inspiration to indentured labourers in Fiji to unite and fight the oppression under the indenture system.
The Deputy Prime Minister will be travelling to Gujarat to attend the 2024 Parvasi Gujarati event as a guest of honour and later have meetings with potential investors and the business community in Gujarat.
