The Rakiraki and Tavua Town Council each received a garbage compactor truck from the Minister for Local Government today.
While speaking at the handing over ceremony, Minister Parveen Bala says over the last three years a significant level of investment towards the purchase of Garbage Compactors has been made by the Government of Fiji with added support from the Government of Japan.
Bala says a total of four Garbage Compactor trucks worth $538,943 has been invested by the Government of Japan.
Seven trucks worth just over $1.09 million has already been provided by the Fijian Government.
The Minister is optimistic that these new trucks will add value to the service delivery provided by the Rakiraki Town Council and the Tavua Town Council.
