The Rakiraki River Bank Protection Project is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
Minister for Waterways and Environment, Dr. Mahendra Reddy visited the Nakauvadra River Bank Protection site during his recent tour to Rakiraki to see if works are going on as expected.
Dr. Reddy says the completion of the works will not only protect the newly constructed Rakiraki market, but it will also safeguard neighboring buildings from further infrastructural damages previously caused by riverbank erosion.
The Ministry of Waterways and Environment has assisted the Town Council by providing $100,000 dollars grant to undertake the works as well as materials that are used for the works.
