FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach, Simon Raiwalui believes there was a head shot on Albert Tuisue by English prop Joe Marler during Fiji’s 22-30 win at Twickenham this morning.
While speaking after the match, Raiwalui says during the game, they thought it was a clear head contact and he was surprised at the referee’s call.
Raiwalui says he was surprised Tuisue was fine and he came back onto the field but at the time he thought it was a high shot direct to the head.
He says obviously the referees do not have the angles.
The coach adds all he wants as a coach is consistency in the process.
Meanwhile, English coach Steve Borthwick has refused to comment on speculation that Marler could be cited in the coming days.
Referee Jaco Peyper was told by his support staff that they did not have the angles so they could properly assess the alleged foul play and this resulted in Marler being allowed to continue on after an incident that left Tuisue requiring a head injury assessment that he passed.
