Construction work on the 210 flats in Raiwai is expected to be completed by next month.
The construction work was halted last year due to a dispute between the China Railway First Group and the Public Rental board.
However, work resumed following a renewed contract.
Public Rental Board had confirmed earlier that the project which is expected to cost $18.3 million has been made possible through a $9 million soft loan from the EXIM bank of China through the Fijian Government as well as an additional $9.3million grant by the Chinese Government to the PRB.
The Ministry of Local Government, Urban Development, Housing and Environment permanent secretary, Samuela Namosimalua had earlier said that the project will assist in the provision of affordable rental housing for low to middle income earners.
He had also said that completion of the 82 new and modern low cost housing units in Phase One and 128 units in Phase Two will improve the living standards and well-being of 210 families.
The project will see the completion of 210 units consisting of 110 one‑bedroom and 100 two bedroom flats.
