France-based winger and current Fiji Men’s 7s team extended squad member Josaia Raisuqe has set his target of claiming a spot in the final team that will be named to travel to the 2024 Paris Olympics next month.
The 29-year-old says he is trying to adapt to the transition from 15s to 7s rugby as it has been a while since he has played 7s rugby.
Raisuqe says training with the team these past few days has not been easy ever since he joined the team and he knows there will be a lot of competition in the current 20-member squad.
The Lutu, Wainibuka, Naitasiri man says competition in the team has been really intense and anyone who would be thinking of lacking down a bit in training will have no place in the final squad.
Raisuqe joined the team last week and made the cut for the 20-member squad that was trimmed from the 30 players that were selected.
The team will be further trimmed to 15 players and is likely to be done next week or the following week.
Fiji is in a tough pool in the Paris Olympics as they are pooled with hosts France, USA and Uruguay. The Olympic 7s will be from the 25th to the 31st of July 2024.
