Racial discrimination from 1987 and 2000 is still very much alive in SODELPA and there were lies being spread about the constitution.

This was highlighted by the Prime Minister and FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama at the FijiFirst Fun Day in Savusavu.

Bainimarama says that no one was taught in schools and in churches to practice racial discrimination and it was so bad in 1987 and 2000, because there were a lot of politicians like Niko Nawaikula and Mosese Bulitavu that had spread lies about the land and constitution.

The Prime Minister says that a lot of the iTaukei did not like what happened in 2006 and 2007 because of the Charter as it took away an Itaukei government.

He says that a lot of people did not know that this itaukei government had strong racial differences.

Bainimarama says that a lot of lies were spread about the constitution as people have been lied to about the laws and the 2013 Constitution.

Meanwhile, SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka has told supporters in a campaign meeting in Labasa that SODELPA is not a racist party and it is “all embracing”.

He said in the campaign meeting that most of the leaps and bounds Fiji has seen in its history have been based on natural resources which belong to the natives of Fiji and there is a feeling that they have not been appropriately rewarded.

Rabuka says one area that SODELPA will look at is how we can embrace native resource owners into our development.
