Former Prime Minister and Leader of People’s Alliance, Sitiveni Rabuka says the Rabuka of 11th October 2021 is not the Rabuka of 1987.
While launching his party in Nawaka, Nadi today, Rabuka says he is aware that his actions of 1987 still resonates today.
Rabuka adds his perspectives and attitude has changed and he believes in inclusivity and understands at the end of the day, the people are in-charge.
He further says that he is 73 years old but age is just a number and he is confident his party will form the next government.
Rabuka also says they will contest the elections with candidates who put the welfare and prosperity of the common people above personal selfish interests.
He adds that their first task would be to correct the woeful state of parliamentary procedures and practices as imposed by the ruling regime.
The former Prime Minister also says his government will not take people in for questioning in the dark of night.
Rabuka says any government he will lead will promote, protect and defend the civil, political and religious rights of Fiji’s minority communities adding that 32 percent of Fiji’s population comprise of Fijians of Indian ancestry and Fiji is their home. He says he will look after the rights of the minority groups and his dedication will be no less than for the rights and aspirations of the indigenous people of Fiji and Rotuma.
Rabuka adds his government will take action to end the ordeal of Professor Brij Lal and his wife and welcome them home.
He says the task of his government will be to urgently review the financial assistance for the poor and seek international assistance for that.
