The Nadi Airport Sports Association land, previously managed by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, has been formally handed over to Fiji Airports Limited.
The land had been used for military purposes since 1987.
While handing over the NASA facility to Fiji Airports Limited, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the transfer of the land would support Fiji Airports' long-term master plan, which aims to enhance the nation’s aviation sector.
He says its acquisition under the Acquisition of Land Act was intended to protect Nadi Airport and facilitate the training of military officers.
He adds they were returning the land to its original users, Fiji Airports Limited to support the development of its master plan.
Rabuka also extended his best wishes to Airports Fiji Limited and expressed his anticipation for the successful implementation of the master plan and the completion of related developments.
