Team Fiji discus thrower Brienna Rabakewa will face a huge challenge today when she comes up against Australian Games Finalist Taryn Gollshewsky at the Oceania Athletics Championship.
The Year 10 student of Swami Vivekananda College in Nadi, will take part in the discus Senior category this afternoon. Rabakewa has taken part in familiar stages during the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands where she threw her personal best of 42.57 metres. She also took part in the Queensland State Champions and won gold in the discus which was a major improvement from her 4th placing in Brisbane.
Rabakewa’s discus event is start at 4.10pm this afternoon Day 4 of the Championship is currently underway at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Events that are scheduled for today are the men's hammer throw, women’s shotput, men’s javelin, women’s pole vault, women’s discus, women’s shotput, women’s 300 meters, men's 3000 meters, men's 100 meters, women’s 100,1500 and 4 by 400 meters relays, and the men’s 4 by 400 meters relay.
