Less than one month out from the 2023 Rugby World Cup, hosts France have been dealt with a massive blow after star fly-half Romain Ntamack was ruled out through an injury.
The playmaker sustained a knee injury in France’s second Rugby World Cup warm-up match against Scotland last week.
The 24-year-old was forced off the pitch in the 55th minute of that game.
France Rugby has confirmed that Ntamack has ruptured cruciate ligaments in his left knee (ACL injury), which will sideline him for the tournament and a large chunk of Toulouse’s 2023/24 season.
The 37-Test cap fly-half has been a key player for the French side and with the team’s opening RWC match against the All Blacks on the 9th of next month, he will surely be missed.
This would have been his second Rugby World Cup after he made France’s final 31-man squad four years ago.
Meanwhile, France will take on the Flying Fijians at 7.05am this Sunday.
