The chiefly village of Viseisei in Vuda is clad in black and white, as the body of the late Tui Vuda and former President Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda lies in State in Vunisei.
The chiefs from Vuda, led by Taukei Sawaieke, Ratu Tevita Momoedonu are currently rehearsing the final handing over of the Tui Vuda’s casket to them.
The rehearsal is being held on the main lawn adjacent to the “Sau Tabu”, where the late Tui Vuda will be laid to rest.
It is understood that the Chiefs from Vuda will be the only people that will converge at the “Sau Tabu”, and they will also be the last to carry the casket from the steps of the Sau Tabu, after the RFMF pallbearers hand over the casket to them.
It will be the Chief of Vuda who will carry the casket to its final resting place.
Last night, the delegation representing the Tui Cakau led by Ratu Jekesoni Yavalanavanua presented their i-reguregu on behalf of the Cakaudrove province.
Ratu Iloilo’s mother, Adi Melania Ciba, hailed from the chiefly clan of the Ai Sokula from Welagi in Somosomo and has close links to the Tui Cakau.
Members of the Fiji Military Forces continue their hourly vigil over the casket of the Late High Chief.
The Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa is expected to lead the delegation from the Vanua of Burebasaga at 3pm this afternoon.
