Republic of Fiji Military Forces Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Mohammed Aziz will not be investigated by the police relating to the allegations leveled against him in the Pita Driti trial.

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed to Fijivillage that those allegations against Brigadier General Aziz were made by Driti however there is no proof.

Tudravu said Brigadier General Aziz was interviewed by the police when Pita Driti was taken in for questioning.

Earlier this week, Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde had said that he will not comment on the allegations leveled against Brigadier General Mohammed Aziz in Driti’s trial.

The matter came up many times in court that Aziz was the alleged initiator and purported architect of the Sudan Plan in 2010.

Pryde said there is no comment when we asked him if there are any files with the DPP’s Office relating to this matter.

He said the right people to comment on this issue would be the police.

Brigadier General Aziz is currently accompanying Defence Minister, Joketani Cokanasiga on an official visit to China.

Pita Driti remains in custody until the 10th of next month for mitigation and sentencing after being convicted of inciting to mutiny.

The maximum sentence for the charge is 15 years imprisonment.
