There have been questions raised about the Fiji Men’s 7s team who competed at a tournament in Samoa last year and are said to have won $25,000.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru highlighted this today in his ministerial statement in Parliament.
Saukuru says it was noted that the coach of the Fiji 7s team had told the Samoa organisers that they could keep the prize money.
He says it was also noted that all the players were advised of this.
The Sports Minister says upon this coming to the notice of the trustees, they requested the Samoa organisers to give the prize money to FRU but this could not happen.
