The Queen Elizabeth Drive Upgrade Project is expected to be completed by October this year.
Project Engineer, Adarsh Kumar says they have completed 50 percent of the work for Area 1, 70 percent for Area 2 and work continues for Area 3.
Area 1 is from Ratu Sukuna Road to Uwia Roundabout, Area 2 is from Uwia Road to Muanikau , while Area 3 is from Muanikau to Laucala Bay.
He says more than 100 people are employed under this project.
Meanwhile, Fiji Roads Authority CEO Kamal Prasad had earlier stated that the project will cost $66 million.
The project includes developing 4.5 kilometres of road with a new Nasese bridge, new traffic layout and roundabouts.
All underground utility services have also been upgraded under this project together with the construction of footpaths on both sides of the road for pedestrians, cycling lanes with upgraded streetlights and parking spaces.
China Railway 5 Group has been contracted for the project.
