Students of Queen Victoria High School

Queen Victoria High School and Cicia High School are the only two schools in the country who had a 100 percent pass rate in the 2014 Fiji School Leaving Certificate Examination.

According to the Ministry of Education, 166 centers sat for the examination and out of the 12,344 students who sat for the examination, 8193 passed.

A total of 3429 students scored 250 and above.

The Education Minister, Dr. Mahendra Reddy says twenty-five schools around the country had a pass rate below 50 percent which includes 16 schools from the Central division, five from the Western division and two each from the Eastern and Northern division.

Dr. Reddy said the Ministry has identified a number of schools including maritime and rural schools which have not been performing well.

He added that this also gives them an opportunity to look at how the schools could improve their performance.

Meanwhile, the pass rate for the 2014 Fiji School Leaving Certificate Examination is 66.4 percent compared to 75 percent in 2013.

Doctor Reddy said students who have not performed well still have the opportunity to continue studying in the high school system.
