SODELPA parliamentarian, Viliame Gavoka said he wants Christianity to be reinstated in the Constitution.
Gavoka said he is troubled by the Constitution that says religious belief is personal.
He said Christianity must be recognized for what it has accomplished and continues to accomplish.
He said he knows making changes is not easy but this has to be done.
The constitution states that religious belief is personal and Religion and State are separate which means the State and all persons holding public office must treat all religions equally.
It also said that the State and all persons holding public office must not dictate any religious belief.
The State and all persons holding public office must not prefer or advance, by any means, any particular religion, religious denomination, religious belief or religious practice over another, or over any non-religious belief.
Meanwhile the constitution also states that every person has the right to freedom of religion, conscience and belief.
It is clearly stated that every person has the right either individually or in community with others, in private or in public, to manifest and practice their religion or belief in worship, observance, practice or teaching.
