An employee of Ministry of Public Enterprise who is charged with receiving a corrupt benefit and giving false information was released on bail by the Suva Magistrates court this morning.
A church minister who knows Meli Bitu from birth was presented as a surety.
The court was told that Meli Bitu being the Chief Administration Officer at the Ministry of Finance allegedly received a benefit of $12,592.95 between 2nd to 10th May last year.
Bitu is also alleged to have given false information to the Permanent Secretary of Finance, Filimoni Waqabaca with regard to the total cost of a surgery knowing that the information was false.
The case has been adjourned to 24th February for mention.
