Professor Nigel Healey is now the new Vice‑Chancellor of the Fiji National University.

The new appointment comes after the acting Vice Chancellor Professor Ian Rouse stood down from the position in October last year.

FNU Chancellor and Chair, Ikbal Jannif says the appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process both local and international.

Jannif says Healey is currently the Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor (International) and Head of the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.

Jannif adds Healey has served as an economic policy advisor to the Prime Minister of Belarus and the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation and managed a number of multinational research and economic developments in different parts of the world.

Speaking on his new appointment, Healey says he is honoured to have been offered the chance to lead FNU at this exciting time in its development.

Healy will commence his appointment in July.
