A strategic alliance between the Great Council of Chiefs and Fiji's largest state-of-the-art 130-bed specialty private hospital could result in world-class medical services reaching out to more Fijians nationwide.
GCC chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula who took a guided tour of Pacific Specialist Healthcare in Nadi says the availability of cutting-edge technology and highly trained specialist staff at the facility situated right opposite the Nadi International Airport.
Ratu Viliame says meeting the hospital's founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar, he was also impressed with the location of PSH Hospitals as it would encourage high-profile visits from dignitaries and heads of state as one of the very first requirements of getting such visitors to our shores is the availability of internationally recognized medical services and facilities.
He says their newly formed alliance when formalized will not only benefit the greater iTaukei community of Fiji but also trigger international events and visits from VIPs creating many other spin-offs as well.
Ratu Viliame says the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence will allow the hospital to reach out to the remote parts of Fiji as well using telemedicine as a means to connect with patients.
He stresses that one major problem is that people don't want to visit hospitals until they get very sick and this often leads to more complications and they hope our partnership with PSH Hospitals will also enable more health awareness across the iTaukei community so that more Fijians become aware and take action for early detection of chronic illnesses as it is very important in saving precious lives.
Echoing similar sentiments, PSH Hospitals' founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar says they are ready to work closely with the Great Council of Chiefs to provide world-class medical services to the larger part of the Fijian community in the most cost-effective, affordable manner and in the fastest time possible.
He says having the GCC presence on PSH Hospitals’ board will ensure the wider representation of the iTaukei community to better serve the people and have active participation in decision-making processes at the hospital.
Kumar says that a few regional countries have also sent the names of their nominees to be part of PSH Hospitals’ board to better serve their citizens.
He says they are an inclusive hospital and decisions made at PSH Hospitals are to ensure that the people’s needs are appropriately met when they visit them.
