Primary school students celebrate pre-Girmit days

Close to 60 primary school students celebrated pre-Girmit days at the Fiji Museum today by making pottery.

The event was organized in association with the Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India.

The High Commission of India also provided certificates to the children who took part today.

Fiji Museum HOD Marketing Prakashni Sharma said this will encourage children to not only learn about other cultures but also respect them.

Director of the Indian Cultural Centre, Kishan Lal Kanojia said children will never forget the arrival of the Girmityas in Fiji.

Meanwhile, the India Cultural Centre will be celebrating Girmit day on the 15th May at the Civic Centre where the Fiji Museum will also be displaying artifacts.
