The President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau handed over a $2,000 donation to the Fiji Cancer Society today from a former Fiji citizen now residing in Australia.
Since the society solely relies on donations for its operations, the Fiji Cancer Society’s Manager Rajshri Baleisuva said they will use the funds on operations like patient support care.
When questioned about the release of the frozen funds that belong to WOWS Kids Fiji, Baleisuva refused to comment on the matter.
She said the trustees are still deciding on the release of funds based on a number of requirements that WOWS Kids needs to fulfill.
Approximately $490,000 has been frozen in the Fiji Cancer Society bank account for two years.
Majority of the funds that was collected for WOWS is through the 2012 Walk On Walk Strong campaign where you - the listeners of Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam - contributed towards the worthy cause.
We will update you on how the funds will be utilized after it is released to WOWS Kids Fiji.
