Expect bad weather from later today into the weekend and there is also a possibility of a Tropical Depression or a Tropical Cyclone forming on Sunday.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Misaele Funaki says the trough that has been lingering to the North of us, is bringing some rain with it.
Funaki says over the coming days, they expect the rain to gradually increase because the trough of low pressure is expected to drift South and move onto Fiji.
Based on this, Funaki says the models are saying that the system is expected to become a Tropical Depression or Tropical Cyclone this weekend.
He says the Weather Office is keeping a lookout for the system but people need to be prepared for continuous heavy rain and strong winds.
Funaki is calling on the people to continue to listen to the weather updates on the radio as we are still in the cyclone season.
He says people should not be complacent.
A strong wind warning is now in force for the land areas of the Northern Division, Northeastern parts of Viti Levu (from Tailevu North through Rakiraki up to Tavua), Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
A heavy rain alert remains in force for the Northern Division and Yasawa group.
Expect rain to pick up over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva, Nausori, Tailevu-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Mamanuca, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
Localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.
