Australia's most wanted terrorist Neil Prakash has been arrested in Turkey, according to senior officials from Australia and Turkey.
23-year-old Prakash who is of Fijian‑Indian and Cambodian background was previously believed dead after an airstrike in Mosul.
The senior Islamic State recruiter and terror plot instigator was arrested several weeks ago after Australian authorities contacted Turkey saying they had intelligence he was planning to enter the country.
The ABC understands Prakash was arrested by Turkish officials when he tried to cross the Syrian border into Turkey using false documents and a fake name.
Turkey has been negotiating a handover with several countries that want to question Prakash.
The Australian Federal Police issued a first‑instance warrant for Prakash's arrest in August 2015.
