Thousands of people living along Princess Road and Khalsa Road are being affected as power supply along these areas will be temporarily shut down at different times between 5.30am till 2pm.

Energy Fiji Limited says this is to allow a Low-bed truck with cargo to travel from Kings Wharf in Suva at 5.30am to Valelevu however the time frame of the power outage may shift due to the movement of the cargo as it is entirely dependent on the weather, traffic and road conditions.

EFL says during the Low-bed truck’s transit from the Kings Wharf via Princess Road to Valelevu, power supply to customers who are in between these areas will be switched off or disconnected temporarily as a safety precautionary measure while the cargo passes under the electrical power lines.

EFL says Power Supply will be restored after the cargo has safely passed under these electrical power lines. In some cases, customer service cables will need to be disconnected and removed from the overhead road crossing to allow the cargo to safely pass through.

ZAR Logistics will be moving an over-dimensioned Cargo from Kings Wharf, Suva to their yard in Boila Circle, Valelevu via Edinburgh Drive, Princess Road from junction of Ratu Mara Road to Khalsa Road junction, Khalsa Road from Princess Road junction till Kanace Road Junction, Kanace Road from Khalsa Road junction till Naveiwakau Road junction, Naveiwakau Road, Daniva Road from Naveiwakau Road junction till Nasinu Road junction and part of Nasinu Road from Daniva Road junction till Boila Circle junction.
