Pothole crews have been deployed in the Central and Western Division to help control the increasing number of potholes in the country.
Fiji Roads Authority CEO John Hutchinson says that 8 pothole crews were sent to the Western Division and 16 pothole crews are out on the road network working to maintain the roads following the rise in potholes.
Hutchinson says that this was done to help control the amount of potholes which appeared after this last week's heavy rain.
He adds the main priority however is to restore the condition of main roads like Kings Road and Queens Road, Ratu Dovi Road and Grantham Road.
He says that other high volume traffic roads in both the Central and Western division were also affected as a result of the heavy rain.
Hutchinson says the FRA contractors will fix the side roads once the main roads are maintained.
He adds that the fixing of potholes is expected to end in the coming week provided the clear weather remains.
Meanwhile the Fiji Roads Authority urges members of the public to travel safely on the road given the fragile state of the road network after the long period of rain.
