With postal voting applications now closed, the Fijian Elections Office has aprroved 5,191 applications for the 2022 general elections so far.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says as of 3pm today, they have received 9,017 applications and they will be releasing the final numbers in a few hours time when they have received all applications from their divisional offices.
He says they have been receiving a slow but steady supply of postal vote applications throughout the last two weeks.
Saneem says they have dispatched 1,163 postal voting packages and he confirms that 13 people have already voted in the general election.
He adds some of the applicants might have received their packages and they have until 6pm on the 14th of next month to return their forms.
The Supervisor says if a voter who registered from overseas wants to vote in Fiji on the 14th of next month, they will be able to vote at the St. Stephen's building in Suva.
