Joe Biden won Virginia and Vermont, and US President Trump carried Indiana and West Virginia.

According to the New York Times, polls have begun to close in numerous Eastern states, and results are expected to begin arriving in some key battleground states soon.

Polls start closing in Florida and Georgia, two important battleground states. The first polls are closing, with at least six states reporting turnout higher than four years ago.

The first races are called for Trump and Biden as the country waits on swing state results.

Republicans fight to maintain their majority in a tough environment. Democrats look to expand their majority as Republicans brace for a potential blue wave.

Most polls in Florida and Georgia closed earlier, and could soon offer a first glimpse of where the election is headed in two key battleground states the first, a must-win for President Trump with 29 electoral votes, is characteristically neck-and-neck down to the wire.
