Police are seeking public assistance in identifying the victim of a fatal accident that occurred in the Southern Division on the 1st of this month.

Director Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana says a man who was allegedly sleeping in the middle of Queens Road near Talenaua in Navua, was hit by a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man around 1am last Friday.

The victim was taken to the Navua Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

SSP Divuana says investigators have not yet identified the victim, who is an i-Taukei male, likely in his late 20s.

Police have also released a photo of the man's clothing and a distinctive tattoo on his left arm to assist with identification.

Anyone with information is urged to contact 9905 633 to assist investigators.

Police investigation is ongoing.
