A team of Police officers are conducting house to house and business visitations along the stretch near Navo, Malolo in Nadi where a 61-year-old man passed away after he was hit by an unknown vehicle.
Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan has directed a team to liaise with all garages and are requesting owners to keep a look out for any vehicle owner that may request repair or body work for their vehicle, and report it to their nearest Police Station.
He says the officers are also reaching out to home owners and business operators who have CCTV cameras in the hope of identifying the vehicle involved.
Anyone with information is requested to call Crime Stoppers on 919 or the Western Division Command Centre on 9905-457.
Meanwhile, the 61-year-old man from Koronubu in Ba was a passenger in a car driven by a 48-year-old farmer from Toge in Ba, which was stopped during a traffic operation on Friday night after it was found to be speeding in a 60km/hour zone.
Police say while traffic officers were processing the 48-year-old driver, the victim got off the vehicle and, while crossing the road to where the Police Traffic Officers were, was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle.
Due to the impact, the man landed in the opposite lane, where he was hit by another vehicle.
Police say the victim was rushed to the Nadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
