A concerned market vendor from Tauvegavega, Ba, says she has witnessed drugs being sold openly in Namosau, with vehicles coming and going regularly.

While speaking to fijivillage News, 55-year-old vendor Umlesh Lata, from Tauvegavega Road, Namosau, says people of all ages are involved in the drug trade, creating an unsafe environment for her and other residents.

She says she often travels to the market early in the morning and returns late in the afternoon, feeling increasingly vulnerable due to the growing drug activity.

Lata says some individuals even approach her for money, which she claims they later use to buy drugs.

She is now calling on the police to increase security in the area for the safety of vendors and residents.

When fijivillage News reached out to the Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu assured that they have started patrolling the area and are actively monitoring the situation.

He encourages concerned citizens to report any suspicious activity to the police, emphasizing the importance of information sharing in addressing these issues.
