Police officer suspended after three remand prisoners escaped in Lautoka

A Police officer has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation into how three remand prisoners escaped from custody from the Lautoka Police Station last Monday.

Joeli Nukunawa, Isaac Mathew James and Emosi Baledrokadroka escaped while being kept in custody awaiting a court appearance for a case of aggravated robbery.

Joeli Nukunawa was arrested in Vitogo in Lautoka, Isaac Mathew James was recaptured in Naikabula in Lautoka on Tuesday while Emosi Baledrokadroka was arrested in Navutu in Lautoka last Thursday.
