A Police officer who allegedly assaulted a 32-year-old man in Navua earlier this month will appear in the Navua Magistrates Court today.
Police say the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has sanctioned the charges based on the outcome of the investigation conducted by the Fiji Police Force's Internal Affairs Department.
The officer has been charged with one count of grievous harm.
The Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has directed the officer be sent on leave and await the outcome of his court case.
Police had earlier confirmed that 4 police officers were sent on leave pending investigation.
They are yet to provide an update.
