Police are currently investigating allegations of a murder that occurred on local fishing vessel, FV Tiro 2 on Monday about 90 miles west of Navula Passage outside of Momi Bay.
This has been confirmed by Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Biu Matavou.
Police Spokesperson Savaira Tabua says the three crew members that have been found are currently being questioned as they are trying to establish what transpired onboard the vessel.
She says for now they are trying to put together what happened before releasing any other information.
The Fiji Navy with the assistance of the Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft, rescued one of the crew members late yesterday afternoon who was onboard a life-raft.
Another two survivors, both Fijians who had remained on board the distressed Fiji flagged vessel were picked up early yesterday morning by a partner fishing vessel Sam Weon 11.
The Commander of the Fiji Navy, Captain Humphrey Tawake confirms that the search is still on for the other 5 crew members.
Fiji Navy through the Rescue Coordination Centre Fiji is coordinating the search and their main focus is to save lives and ensure that the drifting vessel does not become a navigation hazard.
