Police are continuing investigations into possible negligence following the drowning of a one-year-old boy from Galoa Village, Serua, who was found floating near the shoreline early this week.
Authorities report that attempts to revive the boy were unsuccessful. According to police, the child was with an older sibling when he allegedly wandered into the sea, where the tragic incident occurred.
Police are urging parents and guardians to ensure close supervision of young children at all times to prevent such tragic incidents and loss of life.
The current drowning death toll stands at 46, compared to 47 for the same period last year.
