Samabula intersection when the traffic lights are not working

Police have confirmed that Police Officers from the Samabula Police Station only control traffic at the Samabula intersection when the traffic lights are not working.

This was after Fijivillage questioned Police as to why there were no officers to control the traffic along Samabula early this morning as it was right outside the Samabula Police Station and the situation could have been handled in an efficient way.

This is after a huge traffic jam was caused from about 6 this morning due to a broken FEA power line.

This caused even a bigger traffic jam along the Suva to Nausori corridor.

The traffic was cleared at around 11am today.

When asked on why Samabula Police did not act, Police Spokesperson Jokatama Qio says Police will only direct the traffic if the traffic lights are out of order in Samabula.

We are currently trying to speak to the Director of Traffic, Mahesh Mishra on this issue.
