Police and the Ministry of Health are currently investigating an alleged incident of drink spiking at the Warwick Resort after seven guests were taken to Sigatoka Hospital last night for nausea, vomiting, and neurological symptoms following the consumption of a cocktail prepared at a bar at the resort.
The Ministry of Health says the affected patients’ ages range from 18 to 56 years, and two patients have been transferred to Lautoka Hospital due to the severity of their condition.
The Ministry also states that a team of Health Inspectors has been mobilised to assist the health team at Sigatoka Hospital in the detailed investigation of the event at the resort, as well as to identify other guests who may have been affected by similar symptoms after consuming the same drink.
The Ministry advises the public to be cautious and ensure that the food and drinks they consume during this festive season are safe.
While confirming the receipt of the report, Divisional Police Commander West, Senior Superintendent of Police Iakobo Vaisewa, says the team is still in the early stages of its investigation and is currently at the resort.
